Dear Fans of motorsports!

I am more than happy to welcome you at the Salzburgring to the „2nd Bosch Race Salzburg“. Bosch is one of the most traditional companies in motorsports in Austria. Since 2013, Bosch is one of the most important partners of the Histo Cup Austria and we are happy to celebrate, together with Bosch, our unforgettable idol „Jochen Rindt“. 44 years ago, Jochen Rindt won his last race with a Lotus 69 Formula 2 on the traditional Salzburgring.

His death, on September 5th 1970, in Monza hit us hard. Posthumously, he has become world champion and has a bit fallen into oblivion. Nevertheless, his myth of being a bold racing driver, who stood in the pit lane with strings in his shoes and a smoking cigarette, flared-up sometimes. That is how the racing drivers of the Formula 1 have been in those days, when they did not stroll like remote-controlled through the paddock.

Jochen, together with Manfred Kessler, has founded the infield personnel of the Salzburgring. At the first enrolment of the young infield personnel in the paddock in front of Rindts car transporter, Graham Hill lied down on a profane camping bed and listened to the statements of young Rindt, regarding safety on the racing track. This situation could easily happen in the Histo-cup paddock, around the Bosch racing service bus.

In the past 17 years, the Histo-Cup has grown to one of the biggest European racing series and is extremely popular with young and old alike. The drivers are fighting hard for positions, moking tires and spectacular drift angles are on the daily agenda!

I wish all fans and participants nice, thrilling and accident-free races on one of the most beautiful racing tracks in Europe – our Salzburgring.
